ChatGPT Business is OpenAI's shared AI workspace for teams. It brings ChatGPT, research, connected applications and agentic work together with centralized billing and administrative controls. Teams can use it to analyze information, create documents, write code and work with company knowledge.

You may want an alternative when your team needs several model providers, AI built into its existing office suite, or a workspace for building its own agents. Other reasons include adding those agents to Slack, inspecting their costs, versioning their configuration or hosting the system on your own infrastructure.

The options below cover those different needs. Some replace the everyday team assistant. Others change how you build and run AI across the business.

## The best ChatGPT Business alternatives at a glance

## What is ChatGPT Business?

[ChatGPT Business](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8792828-what-is-chatgpt-business) is a self-serve plan for organizations that want a shared ChatGPT workspace. It was previously called ChatGPT Team.

Standard seats include ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, alongside features such as Projects, GPTs, apps, company knowledge and deep research. Administrators manage membership, billing and access, with usage visibility and spend controls. OpenAI does not train on Business workspace data.

Standard seats cost $20 per user per month with annual billing, or $25 with monthly billing. Premium seats cost $100 per user per month annually, or $125 monthly, with higher usage limits. A workspace requires at least two Standard or Premium seats in total. API usage is billed separately.

The appeal is getting OpenAI's products in one managed workspace. People already familiar with ChatGPT can continue using it, while the business manages access and payment centrally.

## Why consider a ChatGPT Business alternative?

The question is what you want to change about your team's AI setup.

### You want more choice of models

ChatGPT Business centers on OpenAI's products. A multi-model workspace lets your team use models from different providers without treating each provider as a separate workplace.

That can matter when one model fits a research task and another fits writing or a recurring extraction job. It also lets you change providers as your requirements change.

### You want to build agents around recurring responsibilities

A weekly competitor report has more behind it than one prompt. It needs a source list, company context, instructions, connected tools, an output format and a review process.

An agent workspace lets you package those parts into a coworker that the team can reuse and improve. Look at how the system stores the configuration, shares it, records changes and runs the work again.

### You want agents in the channels your team uses

Connecting an AI product to Slack data is different from adding an agent to a Slack channel and asking it to work there.

If Slack is where requests and reviews happen, check whether colleagues can mention the agent, receive its response in a thread and continue the work together. The interaction matters as much as the integration logo.

### You want control over deployment and costs

Some teams want a hosted service. Others need to operate the workspace themselves, choose their model credentials or inspect the configuration behind each agent.

Cost also has several parts: seats, model calls, credits, runtime and infrastructure. A plan's monthly price does not tell you what one recurring agent will cost to operate.

## How to choose a ChatGPT Business alternative

Start with one job your team already does. A client proposal, weekly research report or support handoff is more useful than a generic test prompt.

Then compare five things:

- **Where the work happens.** A separate AI workspace, an office document or a Slack channel.
- **What the team shares.** Agents, instructions, files, conversations, connected tools and permissions.
- **How work repeats.** Reusable configurations, scheduled tasks and application-triggered runs.
- **What you control.** Models, credentials, agent versions and deployment.
- **What you pay for.** Seats, model usage, runtime, integrations and hosting.

These questions separate products that can produce similar answers but fit different operating needs.

## 1. Agenta: best for building shared AI coworkers and automations

![Agenta workspace showing a shared AI coworker with chat, instructions, skills, and connected tools](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/agenta.webp)
_Agenta lets teams build, share, and refine persistent AI coworkers with instructions, skills, files, and connected tools._

[Agenta](https://agenta.ai/) is an open-source, low-code workspace where teams build AI coworkers and automations through conversation. Each coworker can have its own job, instructions, skills, files, tools, permissions and schedule.

Instead of giving every task to the same general assistant, you can create a competitor-research agent, a support agent and a reporting agent. Your team can share those agents and their conversations, work on their files and improve how they operate.

### Add your agents to Slack or embed them in web pages

You can [publish an Agenta agent to Slack](https://agenta.ai/docs/guides/connect-slack), invite it to a channel and let teammates mention it there. The agent responds in a thread. Direct messages are also supported. You can also [embed any coworker as a chat widget](https://agenta.ai/docs/guides/embed-an-agent) (`Publish > Embed`) inside an internal dashboard, client portal or website, with domain allowlists, per-visitor session keys and host-page context passed into the conversation.

For example, a teammate could ask a research coworker in `#market-research` to summarize a competitor's announcements and prepare a report. The conversation and result stay available in the thread for the team to discuss, and [shared agent files](https://agenta.ai/docs/concepts/files-and-knowledge) persist across sessions while temporary session files stay scoped to a single conversation.

This is more than letting an assistant search Slack messages. You are bringing a configured coworker into the place where people request and review work.

![Three Agenta coworkers connected to Slack channels for research, support and reporting.](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/slack-coworker-workflow.webp)
_Publish configured Agenta coworkers directly into the Slack channels where your team requests and reviews work._

### Version the agent as you improve it

Agenta records changes to agent configuration. Your team can compare versions to see what changed in its instructions, skills or tools, rather than relying on a conversation to explain why the agent now behaves differently.

If the research coworker repeatedly misses an important source, you can update its instructions and save a new configuration version. The improvement becomes part of the agent you reuse, not just a correction to one report.

Version history also gives a technical teammate a place to inspect changes made by the people using the agent. See the guide to [prompt and configuration versioning](/blog/prompt-versioning-guide).

![Team feedback leads to a new configuration version of a research agent while the earlier version remains in its history.](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/agent-versioning-loop.webp)
_Feedback from a run turns into a saved revision of the agent's instructions, skills, and tools while earlier versions remain in history._

### Choose your model and how you access it

Agenta supports Claude Code, Codex and Pi as harnesses, the programs that run the agent's model-and-tool loop. Different harnesses support different models, giving you options across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and other providers.

You can change the supported model and provider configuration while retaining the agent's instructions, skills, files and tools. That separates the coworker you build from a single model vendor.

You can also [use an existing ChatGPT subscription](https://agenta.ai/docs/guides/use-your-own-subscription) on a local, self-hosted Agenta deployment. This route uses your own harness login rather than a model API key. It is for a deployment you operate for yourself, not a shared login for an entire team. Subscription access is not available through Agenta Cloud's documented setup.

![Agenta coworkers connect to choices of model provider, API-key or supported subscription access, and cloud or self-hosted deployment.](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/model-and-hosting-choice.webp)

### See usage and estimated cost

Agenta's tracing and analytics let you inspect model and tool calls and track requests, tokens, latency and estimated cost. When an agent's work becomes expensive or slow, you can examine the run rather than only looking at the final answer.

That gives you a basis for adjusting the model, instructions or tools used for a recurring job. Estimated model cost is not the same as a complete bill: subscriptions, hosting and connected services may contribute additional costs.

![Agenta agent activity linked to a view of usage and cost analytics.](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/cost-and-trace-visibility.webp)

### Use the cloud or self-host

You can use Agenta Cloud or [run Agenta on your own infrastructure](https://agenta.ai/docs/self-host/overview). The open-source core lets you inspect and modify the workspace rather than depend entirely on one hosted product.

**Best for:** Teams and agencies building shared agents for recurring work, especially when Slack access, configuration versioning, cost visibility and deployment choice matter.

**Pricing:** The open-source core is free to self-host; model and infrastructure costs still apply. [Agenta Cloud](https://agenta.ai/pricing) has a Free plan with $10 in included credits and up to 3 team members. Starter costs $29 per month ($30 in included credits) and Plus costs $99 per month ($110 in included credits), both with unlimited team members and no per-seat fee.

**Pros**

- Build and improve agents through conversation.
- Share coworkers, conversations, persistent shared agent files and temporary session files with your team.
- Add agents to Slack channels and direct messages, or embed them as a chat widget (`Publish > Embed`) in dashboards and internal pages.
- Inspect configuration versions, runs, usage and estimated costs.
- Choose supported models and harnesses.
- Self-host, including supported personal subscription access, or use Agenta Cloud.

**Cons**

- Tools, instructions and permissions need initial configuration.
- Self-hosting means operating and maintaining the deployment.
- Subscription access and model compatibility depend on the runtime setup.

**Verdict:** Choose Agenta when you want to build coworkers your team can use, inspect and improve, with control over the models and infrastructure behind them.

## 2. Claude Team: best for teams that want Claude for documents, analysis and coding

[Claude Team](https://claude.com/pricing) brings Anthropic's assistant, document tools and coding capabilities into a managed team workspace. It includes shared projects, skills, connectors, enterprise search, Claude Code and Cowork capabilities, with centralized billing and administration.

A team can keep project material together, work through documents and connect business tools without building an agent platform from scratch. The same plan supports people preparing reports and developers working with Claude Code.

The main choice is the model ecosystem. Claude Team keeps the team within Anthropic's product and model family. It is not a way to give everyone a choice of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models in the same workspace.

![Claude workspace running a document and financial analysis workflow with task progress and artifacts](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/claude-team.webp)
_Claude combines long-context analysis, artifacts, and project workflows inside Anthropic's managed workspace._

**Best for:** Teams that want Claude as their main assistant for writing, analysis, documents and software work.

**Pricing:** Standard seats cost $20 per user per month annually or $25 monthly. Premium seats cost $100 annually or $125 monthly, with higher usage. The Team plan serves teams of two to 150 people.

**Pros**

- Projects, shared context, skills and connected tools.
- Document work and coding in the same product family.
- Central billing, single sign-on and connector administration.
- Standard and Premium seats can be mixed.

**Cons**

- Model choice remains within Claude's ecosystem.
- Heavy work is subject to the selected seat's usage allowance.
- More advanced controls belong to the Enterprise offering.

**Verdict:** Choose Claude Team when your team wants Claude's workspace and tools, rather than a platform for choosing between model vendors. For self-hosted and local options, see our [open-source Claude Cowork alternatives](/blog/open-source-claude-cowork-alternative).

## 3. Microsoft 365 Copilot: best for teams working in Microsoft 365

[Microsoft 365 Copilot](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/pricing) brings AI into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. It connects assistance to the documents, spreadsheets, email and meetings that already make up the team's work.

That changes where people use AI. A finance team can work in its spreadsheet, a sales team can prepare a presentation and an operations team can use meeting context without moving every task into a separate chat application.

Copilot also includes research and analysis agents. More specialized agent-building needs can involve Copilot Studio, so the right comparison is the combination of products and licenses you need, not the Copilot name alone.

![Microsoft 365 Copilot generating a structured project overview page from a notebook](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/microsoft-365-copilot.webp)
_Microsoft 365 Copilot works alongside the documents, notebooks, spreadsheets, and meetings in your Microsoft tenant._

**Best for:** Organizations already using Microsoft 365 as their main office and collaboration environment.

**Pricing:** Copilot is available through per-user add-ons and Microsoft 365 bundles. Add-on pricing sits alongside the required Microsoft 365 subscription; bundles combine those costs. Business and enterprise offers, billing periods and promotions differ.

**Pros**

- AI inside familiar office applications.
- Access to work context across Microsoft 365.
- Research and analysis agents alongside document assistance.
- Administration within the Microsoft environment.

**Cons**

- The fit depends on how much work already lives in Microsoft 365.
- Licensing requires distinguishing the add-on, base plan and bundles.
- Custom agent scenarios can introduce further services and usage costs.

**Verdict:** Choose Microsoft 365 Copilot when you want AI inside the office tools your team already uses, rather than another workspace to adopt.

## 4. Google Workspace with Gemini: best for teams working in Google Workspace

[Google Workspace with Gemini](https://workspace.google.com/pricing.html) adds AI to the Google tools teams use for email, documents, meetings and shared files. The capabilities included depend on the Workspace edition.

Business Starter includes Gemini in Gmail and access to the Gemini app. Business Standard expands assistance across Gmail, Docs, Meet and other tools, alongside more storage and broader AI access.

For a team that already works in Google Workspace, this makes AI part of the existing document and communication workflow. It also changes the cost comparison: Workspace includes email, storage and collaboration software, not just an AI assistant.

![Google Docs with the Gemini side panel open alongside linked Google Drive campaign files](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/google-workspace-gemini.webp)
_Google Workspace integrates Gemini into Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Drive, and Meet._

**Best for:** Teams whose daily work runs through Gmail, Docs, Drive and Meet.

**Pricing:** AI capabilities are included in eligible Workspace plans, with different features and limits by edition. Compare the plan that covers the applications you need, rather than treating Business Starter and Business Standard as equivalent AI packages.

**Pros**

- Assistance within existing email and document workflows.
- Shared files and collaboration through Google Workspace.
- Email, storage, meetings and AI in one subscription.
- Organization-level management through Workspace.

**Cons**

- AI capabilities differ between Workspace editions.
- The strongest fit is a team already working in Google's applications.
- An office-suite subscription is a different purchase from a configurable agent workspace.

**Verdict:** Choose Google Workspace with Gemini when you want AI close to the email, documents and meetings your team already shares.

## 5. Langdock: best for company-wide access to multiple models

[Langdock](https://www.langdock.com/) combines multi-model chat, custom agents, integrations and workflows in a company workspace. It gives employees a shared place to use AI while administrators manage the organizational rollout.

The product spans everyday chat and more repeatable work. One department can use a custom agent with its own context, while another builds workflows around connected business tools. Model choice sits within the same platform rather than requiring a separate subscription and workspace for each provider.

Langdock also offers enterprise deployment options. Custom deployment is aimed at larger organizations, with availability tied to enterprise scale rather than a free self-hosted edition.

![Langdock workspace showing custom agent configuration, instructions, workflows, and integrations](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/langdock.webp)
_Langdock combines multi-model chat, custom department agents, and workflows in one governed workspace._

**Best for:** Organizations rolling out several AI models, shared agents and workflows across departments.

**Pricing:** [Chat & Agents](https://www.langdock.com/pricing) is a per-user base subscription. Standard and higher-usage seats are available, with separate workflow, governance and API pricing where applicable. Workflow model usage is billed separately from included chat usage.

**Pros**

- Multiple model providers in one workspace.
- Chat, custom agents and workflow automation.
- Organizational identity and administration features.
- Enterprise options for dedicated deployment.

**Cons**

- Workflow and other packages affect the total cost.
- Included chat usage and workflow model usage have different billing rules.
- Custom deployment is positioned for large enterprise rollouts.

**Verdict:** Choose Langdock when the job is giving many teams a managed, multi-model AI environment with a path into custom agents and workflows.

## 6. Dust: best for agents connected to company knowledge and tools

[Dust](https://dust.tt/) connects company knowledge, business applications and shared agents. Teams can build agents that use internal information and take actions through connected tools.

For example, a sales agent can combine account context with internal documentation, while a support agent can work from product information and connected service tools. Agents can use different models, run on schedules or triggers and operate with shared skills and context.

Dust also includes collaborative workspaces and interactive outputs. Its offering is not limited to asking questions about documents; it covers recurring workflows and work that moves between people and agents.

![Dust workspace showing shared company agents, skills, spaces, and multi-model selection](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/dust.webp)
_Dust lets teams build and organize shared agents around company knowledge, skills, and multiple model providers._

**Best for:** Teams building agents around company knowledge spread across Slack, documents, CRM and other systems.

**Pricing:** [Dust Business](https://dust.tt/pricing) supports Free, Pro and Max seats. Pro costs €24 per seat per month with annual billing or €30 monthly, with 8,000 monthly credits. Max provides a higher allowance. Enterprise adds deployment, governance and support options.

**Pros**

- Agents connected to internal knowledge and business tools.
- Multiple model providers with model choice per agent.
- Shared context, skills and team workspaces.
- Scheduled and event-triggered workflows.

**Cons**

- Credit consumption depends on the model, task and tools used.
- Connector and workspace limits vary by plan.
- Advanced administration and deployment options require Enterprise.

**Verdict:** Choose Dust when the main job is connecting agents to company knowledge and operating shared workflows across existing business systems.

## 7. Genspark for Business: best for teams producing research and deliverables

[Genspark for Business](https://www.genspark.ai/business) combines agents with tools for documents, spreadsheets, presentations and research. It brings the work of gathering information and turning it into a finished artifact into one workspace.

A team preparing a market analysis can use an agent to research the topic, then develop the report, spreadsheet or presentation within the same product. Connected applications bring business context into that work.

Genspark supports several model families and manages model routing. Its Team offering includes administration, billing and usage analytics, while Enterprise adds broader governance and deployment features.

![Genspark Super Agent workspace with AI Docs, AI Slides, AI Sheets, and multi-step research tools](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/genspark.webp)
_Genspark pairs research agents with native tools for documents, slides, and spreadsheets._

**Best for:** Teams that want research and document-production tools together, especially for reports, presentations and spreadsheets.

**Pricing:** Team costs $30 per seat per month, billed monthly, with 10,000 credits and 60 GB of AI Drive storage per seat. Enterprise uses custom pricing.

**Pros**

- Agents and document-creation tools in one workspace.
- Native documents, spreadsheets and slides.
- Multiple model families and connected business applications.
- Central administration and usage analytics for teams.

**Cons**

- Agent work consumes the plan's credit allowance.
- Model governance and advanced access controls are Enterprise features.
- Team and Enterprise have different sharing, credit and administration arrangements.

**Verdict:** Choose Genspark when your team wants to move from a research request to documents, spreadsheets and presentations without assembling separate production tools. Our [Manus alternatives guide](/blog/best-manus-alternatives) covers more options for finished deliverables.

## 8. Perplexity Enterprise: best for research and knowledge discovery

[Perplexity Enterprise](https://www.perplexity.ai/enterprise/pricing) combines web research, files and connected sources with team administration. Its answers make source links part of the research experience, which helps when a team needs to follow information back to the underlying material.

Perplexity Computer extends that experience into multi-step work, including research, analysis, document creation and scheduled tasks through connected tools. This makes it relevant to teams that need both answers and research-based deliverables.

Enterprise plans add user management, usage analytics and access controls. Pro and Max provide different usage allowances, including different allocations for Computer.

![Perplexity Enterprise workspace showing source-backed search, Computer tasks, and Spaces](/blog/best-chatgpt-business-alternatives/perplexity-enterprise.webp)
_Perplexity Enterprise combines citation-first search with multi-step research and Computer workflows._

**Best for:** Researchers, analysts, consultants and teams whose work starts with finding and synthesizing information.

**Pricing:** Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max are per-seat plans with different research and Computer allowances. Custom enterprise arrangements add governance, support and volume options.

**Pros**

- Research across web, files and connected applications.
- Source-linked answers and follow-up investigation.
- Multi-step work through Perplexity Computer.
- Enterprise administration and usage analytics.

**Cons**

- Research and Computer allowances differ between seat tiers.
- Advanced governance requirements may need a custom contract.
- The models and execution environment are managed within Perplexity's product.

**Verdict:** Choose Perplexity Enterprise when finding, tracing and synthesizing information is central to your team's AI work.

## When ChatGPT Business is the right choice

ChatGPT Business fits teams that want OpenAI's assistant, research and coding products in one managed workspace. If your employees already work well in ChatGPT and your main need is centralized access, billing and administration, switching may add another system without changing much about the work.

An alternative becomes more relevant when you have a specific requirement: several model providers, AI inside your existing office suite, self-hosting, or a different way to configure and operate shared agents.

## Which ChatGPT Business alternative should you choose?

- **Choose Agenta** to build shared coworkers with Slack access, versioned configuration, cost analytics and control over models and hosting.
- **Choose Claude Team** when you want Anthropic's assistant, document tools and coding capabilities for your team.
- **Choose Microsoft 365 Copilot** when work already happens in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- **Choose Google Workspace with Gemini** when Gmail, Docs, Drive and Meet are the center of your team's work.
- **Choose Langdock** for a company-wide multi-model workspace with agents and workflows.
- **Choose Dust** for shared agents connected to company knowledge and operational systems.
- **Choose Genspark for Business** for research that becomes documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
- **Choose Perplexity Enterprise** when cited research and knowledge discovery are the starting point.

You do not need to migrate every person and workflow at once. Start with the job that prompted the search.

## How to move one workflow from ChatGPT Business

Choose a recurring task and collect the parts it depends on: instructions, reference files, examples, connected applications and the people who review its output.

Recreate that workflow in the alternative. Reconnect the necessary tools, set access and approval rules, and ask the same people to use it. Compare the result, the handoff and the effort required to run it again.

For an agency, a client-reporting workflow can be a starting point. For an internal team, it might be competitor research or a recurring operations report. Keep the scope small enough to see where the new workspace changes the process.

Moving instructions and files is only part of a migration. GPT settings, project history, memory, integrations and permission rules do not necessarily transfer automatically.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best ChatGPT Business alternative?

Agenta fits teams that want to build shared, configurable AI coworkers with model and hosting choice. Claude Team fits teams that want Claude as their main assistant. Microsoft 365 Copilot and Google Workspace with Gemini fit teams that want AI within their existing office suite.

### Is ChatGPT Business the same as ChatGPT Team?

ChatGPT Team was renamed ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025. Current seat types, pricing and included products should be compared under the Business name.

### Which alternatives let a team use multiple AI models?

Agenta, Langdock, Dust, Genspark and Perplexity support access to multiple model providers. The level of control differs: choosing a model, supplying its credentials and operating its infrastructure are separate capabilities.

### Can I add my own AI agents to Slack?

Yes. In Agenta, you can publish an agent to Slack, invite it to a channel and let colleagues mention it. The agent replies in a thread, and direct messages can also be enabled. You need permission to install the Slack application in your workspace.

### Can Agenta work with my ChatGPT subscription?

Yes, through the supported local, self-hosted setup. Agenta uses your mounted ChatGPT-compatible harness login rather than a model API key. This is for a deployment you operate for yourself, not sharing one personal subscription across a team. The documented subscription route does not work on Agenta Cloud.

### Is there an open-source ChatGPT Business alternative?

Agenta's open-source core can be self-hosted and used to build shared agents and automations. You still need model access and infrastructure. Self-hosting the workspace does not mean every connected model or service runs locally.

### Can I track what an AI agent costs?

Agenta includes run tracing, usage analytics and estimated model costs. You can inspect requests, tokens and latency alongside the agent's work. For a complete operating budget, also include costs outside those estimates, such as hosting, subscriptions and connected services.

### Can I move my GPTs and projects to another platform?
