Until today, our roadmap was a secret. The conventional wisdom for a startup is to keep your plans close to your chest. If you have a good idea, a better-funded competitor might steal it. We worried about that.
This fear isn’t entirely unfounded. We ourselves look at our competitors. We see what they ship and learn from it. Secrecy has its advantages.
But it also has a cost, and we’ve realized the cost is too high. By hiding our plans from our competitors, we were also hiding them from the people who matter most: our community.
Startups do two things: create value and capture value. For an open-source company like ours, the order matters. Success comes from creating as much value as possible for as many people as possible, and only then capturing a small fraction of it. Our focus has to be obsessively on value creation.
We can’t create the most value by guessing what you need. We can’t do it by preventing you from influencing our direction. The goal isn’t to have passive users, but a community of owners who feel that Agenta is their platform because they helped shape it.
We believe we can build a platform that enables tens of thousands of teams to ship AI features and build the next hundred startups. We can do this while supporting everyone, from those who want to self-host to those who prefer the cloud.
But we can only do it with you.
So today, we are publishing our roadmap. We want you to see what we’re thinking, challenge our assumptions, and tell us what you need. This is more than a request for feedback; it is an invitation to help us build.
